To use Streaming Video e-Learning, you will need the following software installed on your computer:
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or above, Firefox 1.5 or above, or Safari 2.0 or above
- Adobe Flash Player 9.0.115 or above
In addition, you will need an internet connection with sufficient bandwidth. Our videos stream at 565Kbps. However, we recommend a downstream bandwidth of 1,000Kbps (.97Mb) or higher for the smoothest playback experience.
You can test your downstream bandwidth at http://www.speedtest.net. When there, click on the yellow pyramid on the map (if none of the pyramids are yellow, select one that is closest to your geographic location). This will initiate a speed test. Once complete, your downstream bandwidth is displayed in the "Download" box near the top of your screen.
Your computer must also be equipped with audio output/speakers to playback the audio content.
If you experience trouble with course playback, your servers may have certain security settings in place that prevent you from playing video files. First, check to see if you are able to playback videos from other sources, such as Google, YouTube or Hulu. If not, you likely have internet access restrictions on this computer. Please contact your IT department/personnel and ask them to provide this computer with the ability to access video content.
